Today we continued to learn about what our duties will be when we get to Russia where we will be working in the mission office. It is great to get free tutorials on Word, Excel and other programs. There is so much to those programs we never knew because we were too lazy to read instructions.
One of the blessings of being in the MTC is that we attend a weekly devotional where we sit at the feet of apostles and prophets. Tonight Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke to us, and to say it was powerful would be a gross understatement. He's getting older and he looked pale and none too well, but the power in his message and the love and total conviction of his testimony as an Apostle and his knowledge of Jesus as the Christ totally enveloped everyone there (over 2,000 in the auditorium). The feeling of love and peace that prevailed and still remains with us is hard to convey by written means. He also asked everyone who was going on a foreign language mission to raise their hands. He then pronounced an Apostolic blessing on us--he blessed us with the gift of tongues as we apply ourselves to study. You could almost feel the gentle warm smile of gratitude from the hundreds of us who work and struggle with new languages, confident because of what we felt that we would now receive special help. This evening was definitely a WOW!

ReplyDeleteI know you're busy but maybe just a quick "safe and sound" or "long flight ended well" or "Hi All, Well we're here and it's beautiful. Phil slept the entire trip thanks to the Dramamine. That's right, the plane landed but he's still "high"! Ha ha. Boy we miss everyone almost as much as the chips and salsa. Ha ha."
Just so you know onlydaughter is Larry and Sherri, someday I'll tell you the exciting (!)story behind that username.
